Project update
Following a project update in December 2025, City staff returned to Council in June 2026 with a report on the Ādisōke project.
The report highlights progress on Ādisōke — a custom designed landmark facility that reflects the ambitions of the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Public Library, and Library and Archives Canada in developed in relationship with the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, whose ongoing contributions have helped shape the project’s vision, design and cultural expression. It outlines construction progress to date, including updates to the construction schedule, as well as the project’s budget status and a request for additional budget authority.
We share the community’s excitement and are eager to see this facility open and begin serving residents for generations to come.
Upcoming work – Green roof
The roof is going green—literally! Exciting progress is taking place outside as preparations continue for the green roof. Vegetation, like the plantings shown in the photo, alongside the solar panels, are among the features helping to make Ādisōke a more sustainable, energy-efficient facility.
The green roof will help manage stormwater, improve energy efficiency, support local biodiversity, and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible building.
Alongside it, solar panels will capture energy from the sun and convert it into electricity that helps power the building, reducing energy costs, and environmental impacts.
