Strengthening solidarity through OPL Community Connections
Beyond books, the Central Branch of the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) in Ādisōke offers many other services. These include a new space dedicated to helping the community: the OPL Community Connections.
Located on Level 4 of the building, this space is designed to welcome partners who want to make Ottawa a safer, healthier place, and to enable organizations to work directly with people in need.
The space includes four small offices where different partners can collaborate and offer essential social services. This welcoming environment helps equity-denied people access important resources. These offices have also been designed to familiarize visitors with the library.
This model, still under development, aims to create partnerships that enable organizations to work together and inform the community about available services.
Partners can schedule regular office appointments, ensuring ongoing access to services. In the back, operators have their own workspaces, enabling them to provide services directly on site.
This space shows that Ādisōke is open to all and committed to the community. The OPL Community Connections are more than just a workspace; they are a meeting place for building a better future together.
